Her Place, Your Place
Forgive the length of time since I have connected with you. I hope you are all doing awesome as we head into another beautiful season of harvest!!
For those of you who were not able to attend our second meeting, I would like to invite you to some of what we shared. As we continue our book study of Understanding The Purpose and Power Of Woman by Dr. Myles Munroe, we find in chapter 1 (A Woman’s Place), where we are to be at all times, thus solidifying our identity. But before we get to that let’s identify the tool that sculpts the temple.
In our first meeting we talked about some words. For our second meeting we continued on this path as a premise for the discussion of identity. I have shared with you before of my understanding and belief that life begins with words (Proverbs 18:21; 16:24; 18:7; 12:6; 14:3- just to name a few). With this said, it is paramount that we gain understanding in the words we choose. Not one word is meaningless. Every word we speak has a root and a foundation of belief.
So then let’s take a look at some of these words. I collected a group of words that I believe are very common in our everyday language, perhaps even particularly as women, but ultimately as human beings. The goal here is to grasp the principle that the words we choose to identify ourselves with will inevitably influence our destination. In other words our perception of self will always influence how we see, interact and relate to others leading us on a particular path.
Rights
Beauty
Roles
Competition
Race
Culture
At first glance, these words are pretty generic. But as you begin to think about how they relate to your own life, you will find revelation on your beliefs about yourself, the people around you and the world at large. This is the place we want to start from. And the place we want to ground ourselves in is the Truth. This of course will be a process and a unique one for all of us. My hope is that we will come to a place where we can openly share with one another to reach the foundation of our identity so that we can rebuild our chipped, broken, mistreated, faded, hardened and sometimes ruined temples. Thus, start healing.
I will be talking in depth about these words and how they have influenced my life.
I invite you to comment below or ask questions, so that we may exchange encouragement with one another.
